Dr. Benjamin Larrabee founded Advanced Orthodontics in 2005. He is passionate about creating healthy, beautiful smiles in the East Valley and is dedicated to the community – supporting several programs, including Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He loves to support his patients in their extracurricular activities as well.
After excelling at the renowned University of Michigan Dental School and finishing in the top 5% of his class, Dr. Larrabee attended the state-of-the-art Marquette University and received his Masters in Orthodontics. Dr. Larrabee loved Marquette’s program as it gave him exposure to the different approaches and technologies available in orthodontics. After completing his residency in 2003, Dr. Larrabee practiced in the city of Chicago for three years until he realized he needed more sunshine and made the move to Arizona.

During your first visit, your doctor will take a look at your bite and smile to determine if Invisalign is the right option for you. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have about your smile, Invisalign, or other treatment options.
Once you’re approved for treatment, we will take scans or impressions of your teeth to ensure your Invisalign trays fit perfectly. When your aligners arrive at our office, you’ll come and pick them up to begin your treatment.

Dr. Blalock grew up on a beef cattle farm in Crossville, TN. The time he spent working on the farm taught Dr. Blalock valuable problem-solving skills and a good work ethic. After Dr. Blalock suffered a dental injury when a cow’s hoof contacted his teeth, his dentist repaired his smile and sparked a fascination for the art of dentistry. Because of that experience, Dr. Blalock realized his calling was to become a dentist. He loves that dental work gives him the ability to work creatively with his hands while interacting with patients and making a positive impact on their lives.
Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech University with an undergraduate degree in health science biology. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry

Some patients experience mild discomfort after the initial bonding appointment. When wires are adjusted, patients may also experience some tenderness or soreness. We recommend patients simply take over-the-counter Tylenol as needed or do warm salt-water rinses to minimize discomfort.
The Advanced Orthodontics Team and the American Association of Orthodontics recommend children are seen by an orthodontist at age seven. When your child visits our office, we will take baseline records. We will monitor their growth and development to make sure teeth are coming in right and bones are forming correctly. There is never a charge for these visits.
Retainers are really for life, you simply wear them less and less as time passes. We will make sure that you get the right type of retainer prescribed for your individual smile and let you know how often to wear them. Still have questions? Learn more about retainers after orthodontic treatment.
